Question 1: The full name of the pathogen Black Death is Yersinia Pestis. It is a gram negative bacterium, and is non- motile meaning it cant move itself. It is a non-acid fast, non spore forming member of the Enterobacteriaceae. It has a round cocco/ rod shaped anaerobe meaning it doesn't need oxygen to live.

Question 3: The pathology of the black death disease includes the blood stream, skin tissue, and when not treated quickly the lungs. When the bacteria multiply in the blood and lymph it causes subcutaneous (under the skin) tissues and cells to hemorrhage (bleed out).
Question 4: The symptoms of the infection include fever general malaise, pain and tenderness in lymph nodes (aka buboes). Black spots all over skin, convulsions shock. Later the buboes turn black due to cell death caused by lack of oxygen.
